2009 HERMAN LUCERNE MEMORIAL BACKCOUNTRY TOURNAMENT
Anglers from all over the country fished within the boundaries of Everglades National Park for snook, snapper, redfish, trout, bonefish, snapper and black drum with bait, artificial or fly tackle. The format of fishing for seven species on three types of tackle makes this one of the most difficult back country tournaments in the Everglades. The thirty five anglers caught and released a total of 110 fish over two days of ideal fishing conditions. The tournament events were held bayside at Sundowner’s in Key Largo. Proceeds will benefit the Everglades National Park. The Top Angler, Betsy Bullard, will be invited to participate in the Florida Keys Outfitters/IGFA Inshore Tournament of Champions in 2011.
