Qualifying Tournament & Delegate Angler Sequence
Tournaments must be “All Release” events with a conservation oriented format fishing with bait, artificial lures or flies. Target species may include but are not limited to redfish, bonefish, tarpon, striped bass, bluefish, barramundi, tiger fish, bass, salmon, trout and false albacore. Tournaments must have at least 10 boats and be of 2 or more days in duration.

Tournaments applying for qualifying event status for the first time must submit a copy of their rules along with an “Indication of Interest Form” and have a recommendation from an IGFA Trustee, Representative, Staff Member or the directors of two existing qualifying event tournaments. If there are conflicts of areas and times among tournaments the tournament with seniority shall be given preference.

The tournament champion shall have first option to participate in the Florida Keys Outfitters / IGFA Inshore World Championship. Should the overall champion elect not to participate, the invitation will sequentially be offered to the second and then third place angler. Should none of the top three anglers choose to participate, the invitation to that tournament shall lapse for that year.

If the qualifying tournament is a conventional and mixed tackle event, the representative champion angler will be invited to compete for the in the Florida Keys Outfitters / IGFA Inshore Light Tackle World Championship. (If the overall champion wins using fly fishing catch entries, he or she shall have the option to fish in the Florida Keys Outfitters / IGFA Inshore Light Tackle World Championship or the Florida Keys Outfitters / IGFA Inshore Fly Fishing World Championship.

If the qualifying tournament is a fly tackle event, the representative champion angler will be invited to compete for the in the Florida Keys Outfitters / IGFA Inshore Fly Fishing World Championship.

An affidavit from the qualifying tournament chairman will be required to verify the right of the angler to participate in the Florida Keys Outfitters / IGFA Inshore Championships additionally the Florida Keys Outfitters / IGFA Inshore Championship may extend additional at large invitations as deemed appropriate in its judgment.
